When I decided to build my website, Divelina, ChatGPT was the first AI tool I turned to. It helped me get started, find the right name for my brand, buy my domain, choose my colours, and develop the overall design of the website.
At that stage, ChatGPT was a big part of turning my idea into something real. But when it came to actually setting up the website in WordPress, things became more difficult.
Quick verdict
ChatGPT helped me most with getting Divelina started: the name, the colours and the design ideas. For setting up and updating the WordPress website, I found Claude easier and quicker. I still use both.
ChatGPT vs Claude at a glance
| ChatGPT | Claude | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for me | Getting started: brand name, colours, design ideas | Setting up and updating WordPress |
| Instructions | Sometimes slow, and a few steps did not match my screen | Easier to follow and quicker, in my experience |
| Plan I used | From £7 a month | From £17.99 a month |
| My pick for website setup | Good starting point | My pick so far |
Starting with ChatGPT
ChatGPT helped me lay the foundations for Divelina. We worked on the brand name, colours, design ideas, and the kind of website I wanted to create.
It was a useful starting point, especially when I wasn’t sure where to begin. Having somewhere to ask questions and explore ideas made the whole project feel more achievable.
However, when I moved on to building the website in WordPress, I started getting frustrated. The instructions sometimes felt slow, and I was occasionally guided towards options that didn’t match what I could see on my screen.
I wanted to make progress without spending hours trying to work out which steps were right.
Giving Claude a try
That’s when I decided to try Claude.
I found its instructions easier to follow and, in my experience, the website setup and updates felt much quicker. I could focus on making changes and moving forward rather than getting stuck on the same problem.
It made a real difference to my workflow, especially when I wanted clear, direct instructions for what to do next.
That doesn’t mean Claude gets everything right, of course. Both tools can make mistakes, and what works best can depend on the task.
So, which one helped me more?
For getting Divelina started, ChatGPT played an important role. It helped me shape the idea, choose the name, and develop the brand.
But for setting up and updating the WordPress website, I found Claude easier and quicker to work with.
If I had to choose which one helped me more with the actual website setup, I’d give Claude the edge based on my experience so far.
Why I’m still using both
I’m not planning to stick to just one AI tool. I like using both ChatGPT and Claude, comparing their answers, and seeing which suggestions work best for me.
Sometimes one explains something more clearly, while the other gives me a different idea worth considering. Using both helps me make my own decisions rather than simply accepting the first answer I receive.
Why I wanted to build my website myself
I know there are plenty of AI tools that can build a website in minutes. But sometimes these websites can feel AI-generated and lack a personal touch. With so many fake websites and online scams around, I believe trust and authenticity really matter.
That’s why I wanted to build Divelina myself, step by step, with a little help from AI. I enjoy asking questions, trying things out, making mistakes, and actually learning how everything works.
Yes, you can ask AI to build a whole website for you, and it can save you time. But if you don’t take part in the process, you might end up with a website without really understanding how it was built or how to manage it yourself.
For me, it’s not just about having a website. It’s about learning how to build one, making it my own, and understanding what goes on behind the scenes.
My advice if you’re building a website with AI
Don’t feel you have to choose just one tool. Try different options, compare the advice, and see which one helps you make progress.
Building Divelina has taught me that AI can be incredibly useful, but it’s not always a straight road. Sometimes you need to ask again, try another approach, or switch tools.
For me, the best approach is simple: use the tool that helps you move forward, and don’t be afraid to mix and match.
